The family emigrated to USA in 1929/30, settling in upstate New York. Edward Hayton 1596 sailed on the SS Lancastria leaving Liverpool on 9 Mar 1929. Hannah Hayton 3234 and the two surviving children, William N and Mary C, sailed on the SS Antonia leaving Liverpool on 22 Feb 1930. Edward became golf green keeper and club professional at Wells College, Aurora, NY by 1938. He is credited with designing the golf course at Wells College, and there is a plaque to his memory on the course.
