| Shared note | There is a possibility, based on DNA and facial likenesses, that Daniel did not in fact die in infancy, but survived then emigrated to USA before 1835, where he married, using the name David Hayton, and had a family in New York state, before later dying in the California Gold Rush of 1849. Descendants of this family still live in New York state. However, it has not (so far) proved possible to confirm this possibility with any certainty. |
