Shared note
If John was still alive in 1769, when both his parents had died, and only his sister Margaret and brother Thomas were still alive, then why did John not become guardian of Thomas, who was under 21 at the time? And why was it left to Margaret to give bond so that guardianship of Thomas could be given to Robert Wharton in 1771? The implication is that John died before 1771 although no confirmation of a burial has been found
